The good people at GoVenture have created a google-based search engine which shows results from business sites only. Give it a try at http://www.goventuresearch.com/.
While there scroll down and have a look at the Personal Finance Cheat Sheet. Especially good for the Building Financial Security courses.
I firmly believe Google will take over the world. In a good way. A recent addition to their vast array of search tools is the show options link. Do a search on anything. Below I did shares. Then below the Google logo, click show options. While the timeline feature is interesting, click wonder wheel. It gives you related searches and results immediately. Better yet click one of the items on the wheel. I know, too cool.
Do you regularly click on your favourite sites to do your professional reading? Even if you have the sites bookmarked it takes a fair bit of clicking. Instead, consider using an online reader program, such as Google Reader. When on a site you like, look for a link with the word subscribe or the familiar orange icon
indicating the site is capable of offering RSS (really simple syndication). Click it and it will ask you to use a reader. I use Google Reader because it ties in easily with igoggle.com, my personal web start page. I then add the Google Reader widget and voila, all of my favourite “feeds” are shown. Once every few days I read (or at least glance at) the articles. Instead of going to them, they come to me. Some of my favourite feeds are:
CanadianCapitalist.com
EllenRoseman.com
MakeUseOf.com
CondoMarket
This last feed was created by going to Google News and searching for “condo”, then subscribing. Any articles that mention condo are then fed to me. Try it.
InvestorEd.ca is a great site with many resources and lesson plan ideas. BBI would be the prime beneficiary of the wonderful stuff found here.
From the 2009 OBEA Spring Conference. I subbed in for and ill Liz Akano. Dreamweaver is one way to fulfill your webpage design expectations for BTT1O1.
From the recent 2009 OBEA Spring Conference, my presentation on wikis. The slideshow focuses on practical uses of wikis and the basic navigation using wetpaint.com, my favourite wiki provider.
It seems to time to get more with the new reality of Web2.0. Samsa.biz will become far more useful if I am adding regular commentary on the state of teaching business in high school.
